Pure Bred Rules

The MGF Bylaws define the requirements for an animal to be recognized as a Pure Bred Murray Grey (i.e. 100%MG) and provide a plan for raising the requirements in the future.

The PB rules are summarized in the following words and in the table below.
Currently the MGF recognizes the Pure Bred and percentage MG status of animals that have been registered in other MG organizations.  For animals directly registered into the MGF Registry, bulls become PB when they reach 15/16 purity and females become PB when they reach 7/8 purity.

However for animals born after January 1, 2010, the MGF raises the requirements for females to become PB.  Namely, females must reach 15/16 purity, i.e. the same requirements as for bulls.

For animals born after January 1, 2020, the MGF further raises the PB requirements.  Namely, bulls and females must reach 31/32 purity to gain PB status.
